Südbahnhof Railway Station Vienna

The Südbahnhof Railway Station was opened in 1874 for the world exhibition in Vienna. The plans were made by Wilhelm von Flattich. The railway station survived the second world war more or less, but the spirit of the age in the 50's did not care about the precious building from the years of rapid industrial expansion at the end of the 19th century. The Südbahhof was rebuilt and received its form of today in the years between 1955 to 1961.The Südbahnhof is the starting point for rail journeys to Villach, Graz, the Industrial quater of Lower Austria, Burgenland, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
