The Geinberg village is located in the province Upper Austria, very close to the German border. Geinberg was first mentioned in a document in the 12th century. The gothic church in the center was built in 1358 and bears the name "heiliger Michael" (holy Michael).

Since the beginning of the new century Geinberg became very famous of it's Thermal Spring. In 1974 RAG was searching for oil in Geinberg and found the hot water instead. In 1980 a group of interested citizens started to search for this hot water again, and found one of the hottest and richest mineral springs in Central Europe.July 1996 was the begin of the construction of the Thermal Spring Geinberg.The Termal Spring was opened in May 1998 and enlarged in 2000.
