Scharten is a little Upper Austrian village in the hills between the towns of Wels and Eferding.

Scharten is located on a sea level of 397 metres. The highest point of the municipality has a sea level of 448 metres.

The municipality of Scharten consits of following districts and villages: Aigen, Breitenaich, Finklham, Herrnholz, Kronberg, Leppersdorf, Oberndorf, Rexham, Roitham, Roithen, Scharten, and Vitta.

10,90 % of the land are forested, 75,30 % are used agricultural.

The church in the centre of Scharten is a pilgrimage church. The start of start of construction works was in 1506. The church was finnished in 1632. The second church in Scharten is located in the district of Unterscharten. The church was built for the Protestants in 1900 and finnished with the church tower in 1911.

Scharten is famous for its huge stand of cherry and apple trees.
