Perg is located in the Eastern part of Upper Austria in the vicinity of the Danube river, between Linz in the west, and Grein with the Danube in the east.

Perg consits of following districts and villages: Aisthofen, Auhof, Dörfl, Karlingberg, Kropfmühle, Lanzenberg, Lebing, Lehenbrunn, Mitterberg, Obervormarkt, Pasching, Perg, Pergkirchen, Thurnhof, Tobra, Untervormarkt, Weinzierl, and Zeitling.

Perg received its name from the "Gentlemen of Perge", who were the founders of the town.

Perg is the home for a lot of national and international enterprises like Habau, Terra Technik and Petschl, Manner, Synthesa and Capatect. The town offers a lot of events and festivals during the year. The symbol of Perg is the unicorn.

Josef Manner, who is the founder of the world famous Manner Schnitten, was born in Perg in 1865.
