Helfenberg is a very small town in the north of Upper Austria, between Rohrbach and Bad Leonfelden, close to the Czech border.

Helfenberg consits of following districts and villages: Altenschlag, Auhäuser, Dobring, Helfenberg, Mühlholz, Neuling, Neuschlag, Press¸leithen, Spanfeld, Thurnerschlag, Untereben, and Waldhäuser.

The town was founded in 1108 by a Bavarian warrior. At the beginning of the 13the century, Helfenberg was mentioned the first time in a document. In 1490 Helfenberg became a part of Austria. The place was always famous for its textile and weaving industry. The first factory was built in 1843 by someone from Milano. This was the beginning.
