Altmünster is a town in the Southern part of Upper Austria, located directly on the Western shore of the Lake Traunsee.

The municipality of Altmünster consits of following districts: Altmünster, Eben, Ebenzweier, Eck, Gmundnerberg, Grasberg, Mühlbach, Nachdemsee, Neukirchen, and Reindlmühl.

The first time Altmünster was mentioned in a document was in 909 as a location of a monastery named "Trunseio". Originally a part of Bavaria, became Altmünster a part of Austria in the 12th century.

Altmünster is a very popular destination in summer time. Cycling, swimming and surfing in Lake Traunsee, hiking in the mountains. Altmünster offers a wide range of activities during summer time.
