Pürgg-Trautenfels is a little village with a castle in the Northern part of Styria, directly next to the town of Irdning.

The castle was mentioned the first time in 1261. The meaning of the castle was to secure the Styrian border.

The decayed castle was bought and renovated by the government of Styria in 1983.

The municipality of Pürgg-Trautenfeld consits of following villages: Neuhaus, Trautenfels, Niederstuttern, Pürgg, Untergrimming, Unterburg, Pürgg, Zlem, Lessern and Wörschachwald.
